The result of several years of disappointment, longing, failure, and intense study of the holy Scriptures, this is an attempt to point out the biggest flaws in the common western models of evangelical Christianity, and offer the biblical alternatives. The book provides you with a short, concise, Scripture-saturated, and heavily practical overview of the New Testament’s main teachings on Christian community, leadership, and personal Bible learning. There are three parts — 1) New Testament Love and Community, 2) New Testament Leadership, and 3) New Testament Scripture Learning. Each chapter challenges you to compare your beliefs and behaviors in that category to the teaching of Scripture, and to take specific steps to putting the teachings of the apostles into practice. We will study Scripture together, think about how it compares to common western practices, and then ask what we can do to bring our thinking and lifestyles into greater alignment with those of the apostles and the New Testament assemblies.
