1. God promised that a Descendant of Eve would destroy Satan at harm to Himself. (Genesis 3:14-15)
  2. These descendants are the devil’s children and Christ, who came to destroy the devil’s activities (1 John 3:8)
  3. The Jews who opposed Jesus were the devil’s children (John 8:31, 44).
  4. Christ triumphed over Satan’s hosts through the cross (Colossians 2:13-15).
  5. Adam was the head of humanity, just as Christ is the head of the new humanity (Romans 5:12-19)
    1. Sin came into the world through Adam, and death came through sin, so death spread to everyone because everyone sinned (v. 12)
    1. Even though sin isn’t counted without a law, death still reigned from Adam to Moses over those whose sinning wasn’t a trespass like Adam’s (vss. 13-14)
    1. Many died through Adam’s trespass, but the grace and free gift of Jesus much more abounded (v. 15)
    1. The judgment from 1 trespass brought condemnation, but the free gift from many trespasses brought justification (v. 16)
    1. Death reigned through 1 man’s trespass, but much more will those who receive the free gift of righteousness reign in life through Jesus (v. 17)
    1. As 1 trespass led to condemnation for everyone, so 1 righteous act leads to justification for everyone (v. 18)
    1. As the 1 man’s disobedience made many sinners, so the 1 man’s obedience will make many righteous (v. 19).
  6. Adam brought death to his people, but Christ brings resurrection to His people (1 Corinthians 15:20-26)
    1. In Adam all die, but in Christ all will be made alive (v. 22).
    1. Christ reigns over His enemies through His resurrection (vss. 24-25).
  7. Adam was only a living being, but Christ is a life-givingspirit (1 Corinthians 15:45-49)
    1. Just as we’ve born Adam’s earthly image, so we’ll bear Christ’s heavenly image (v. 49).
  8. Faith is what unites us to Christ (John 17:20-21)
  9. The Spirit is the Person who baptizes us into Christ (1 Corinthians 12:13).
  10. Our faith in Christ is what provides us with the indwelling of the Spirit (Galatians 3:14)
  11. At the same time, God treated us as united to Christ before time began (Ephesians 1:3-10)
