An examination of western Christianity in the light of the New Testament (NT), and an overview of how the NT teaches us how to fix our most glaring errors. There are 3 key areas of misunderstanding addressed: Scripture’s overarching message, our identity as Christians, and our practice as Christians. The book does this by surveying the NT’s teaching on the Bible’s story and purposes; its descriptions of the church; and its instruction on how Christians should live together as the church. It covers such controversial topics as systematic theology, the organization of the church, discipleship, church leadership, and church practices like the Lord’s Supper.
